Suitable Firms
Firmrater has been designed for small and medium sized UK businesses across all industries and service sectors.
The following checklist will help you determine if Firmrater is right for your business:
- Based in and operating from one or more locations in the UK;
- Annual turnover from about £20,000 up to around £10 million;
- From 1 to about 200 staff;
- From 1 to 99 businesses in a group or branches in a chain;
- Any type of business entity, e.g. sole trader, limited company, partnership etc;
- Any officially recognised business activity across all industry sectors;
- Any business age from start-up to long established firm;
Firmrater uses the UK "Standard Industrial Classification of Economic Activities 2007" (SIC-2007) numbering system to identify business activities. You may already be familiar with this if you have registered for VAT or incorporated your business as a limited company.
Only recognised business activities, as detailed in the SIC-2007 list, can be submitted into the system. It is not possible to enter a business activity which is not shown in the SIC-2007 list. The full list is available to download on the Group Check page.
If you run several firms or have multiple branches in a chain, these should be entered individually. You can then run Performance Reports to compare your firms or branches based in different postcode locations. You can enter up to 99 separate branches or businesses in one Firmrater account.
Who in your business should use Firmrater?
Firmrater is intended for use by the owners, directors or partners in a business.
Business owners may use the system themselves or delegate it to a member of staff. Alternatively, it can be managed by their accountant or other professional adviser who may also be able to offer valuable business advice based on the contents of the Performance Report.
